JOBS FAQ

When are job applications due?

Totally complete applications with resume, all references, photocopies of current certifications held and police record checks are due Sunday February 12th, 2012 by midnight at Haney Presbyterian Church, 11858 – 216th Street Maple Ridge, BC V2X 5H8.  Applications that are incomplete will be given less consideration.  Applications may be dropped in the mail slot if the church office is not open.

How do I go about getting a police record check?

First, call your local police station to ask their procedure for record checks (some stations only take cash for example).  Do not try to go to a station that is not in the town/city that you currently reside in.  Before going into the police station, you may download a Volunteer Letter that states that some or all of your work for the camp is on a volunteer basis (Forms & Downloads).  This letter will get you a cheaper rate for your record check.  Rates for this service differ from city to city.  Be sure to get this process started early since it can take over a week.  Have the record check sent directly to Haney Presbyterian Church care of Rebecca Simpson, Director, Camp Douglas, 11858 – 216th Street Maple Ridge, BC V2X 5H8.

What can you tell me about the interview process?

Interviews will be held Friday February 17th and Saturday February 18th 2012 (First Presbyterian Church).  This year only short-listed applicants will be interviewed.  You will be contacted with a time for your interview, please be on time.  Expect to speak to us about what you feel God is doing in your life this year, about how you have changed or grown personally in the last year and about why you want to work at Camp Douglas.

What do the different positions pay?

Our dedicated staff are worth their weight in gold and we could never reimburse them for the great value they bring to our programs.  That being said, this year our pay scale will take into account the number of years of experience you have working at camp or in related work, as well as the amount of special training or certifications you need or have for the specific position you obtain.  If you need more information please contact us at administrator@campdouglas.ca

Once I have a job at Camp Douglas, do I need to pay for meals or accomodation?

NO!  Once you are on staff with Camp Douglas you are not charged for meals and accomodations during scheduled camps.  People who must stay on camp property over weekends when camp is not in session (because they are too far from home to return for short periods) are not supplied with regular meals, although there is always enough “help yourself left-overs” to keep you well fed.

If you have a question about working at Camp Douglas let us know.  We would love to answer it and make it part of this page.  Email administrator@campdouglas.ca
