For the rest of this month we will be posting some blog posts that feature introductions to our summer 2015 full time staff. Today we would like to introduce you to Knight and Cooper!

Knight – Assistant Cook

What is the story behind your camp name?
When I was a Leader In Training, which was the best experience of my life, I was helping to lead a forest game at night. One strong and amazing young girl happened to trip in loose mud and fall on a branch when my character was chasing her. Let's just say the game became an emergency and I had to carry her out of the forest to the First Aid Cabin for help. She took the injury better than I would have. She was rushed to the hospital and was stitched up. At the end of the week, she was unbelievably tough and walking! I almost cried because I felt so bad that she had fallen. She thought of my camp name because our group hadn't chosen ours yet. I was her Knight in Shining Armor and so she named me Knight. Thank you for being so strong.

What is your position this summer and what excites you the most about it?
My position this summer is assistant cook!! I'm looking forward to hearing the thankfulness of each child after I serve them food. I am excited to take time off from cooking to enjoy a few rounds of knuckleball and sitting on the rocks while soaking up the much needed sun! (Don't forget sunscreen!)

What do you love most about Camp Douglas?
I've had so many wonderful memories at Camp Douglas. Each new summer comes with more exciting activities and even better food. I come back every year to reconnect with my Camp Douglas family and see everyone's bright faces and their shining lights at night during campfire. I love to learn during bible study and go for polar dips in the morning and don't let me catch you during kitchen raids!! Camp is my favourite place on Earth and I cannot wait to be there all summer!!

Cooper - Waterfront/Program Assistant

What is the story behind your camp name?
Well the story is that there is really no story behind my name other then I liked it and thought it suited me!

What is your position this summer and what excites you the most about it?
This summer I will be the waterfront/program assistant! I am so excited to help plan all the super fun activities. I look forward to hanging out with everyone that comes up to camp on the beautiful beach.

What do you love most about Camp Douglas?
For the past 11 years, Camp Douglas has been an amazing part of my life. Something I really love about camp is that every single person that comes up (camper or staff) has something special about them and Camp Douglas is the perfect place to share in their talents. Everyone can find something they love at camp whether it’s forest games, rock painting, campfire, or of course my favourite, enjoying great company at the beach!
