Meet Argon!

What is the story behind your camp name?
I was on a road trip with my family one summer when I was about 16 or 17, and for an upcoming youth retreat my youth leader had asked me to come up with a camp name. So, over a couple of hours I searched for a word that both somehow captured an aspect of my personality, but was also easy to pronounce. After getting frustrated and totally convinced that all the best camp names are gone, I asked my sister to throw out some suggestions. We went through the periodic table, and Argon seemed to fit. It's a noble gas (it doesn't react with other elements), it's stable, and it's an easy two syllables.

What is your position this summer and what excites you the most about it?
This year at Camp I am a Senior Cabin Leader. I am super excited to be a part of what God is doing up at Camp this summer. Each and every person is changed by being at Camp, and I feel extremely privileged and excited to be fully immersed with the campers all week long; to be with them through the highs and lows of camp experience; to enjoy the goofiness and energy of field games as well as the quieter thoughtfulness of nightly devotionals; but most of all to be alongside each individual as they are changed by God at Camp.

What do you love most about Camp Douglas?
I love campfires at Camp Douglas. Between the singing, the campfire stories, and that smoky campfire smell, campfire is something I always look forwards to at the end of the day.

Meet Wonder!

What is the story behind your camp name?
I chose Wonder as my camp name, because of Alice in Wonderland! Can you guess what my real name is?

What is your position this summer and what excites you the most about it?
I'm one of the senior cabin leaders at camp. I'm really excited to be back at camp, singing songs at campfire, playing knckleball, and watching the campers grow in Christ!

What do you love most about Camp Douglas?
The number one thing that I love about camp is that you can definitely feel God's presence all around you! Camp is a place where everyone and anyone can come and feel accepted for who they really are!
