With sorrow we must announce that Camp Douglas will not run summer camp as usual this summer. The necessary precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 do not allow for overnight camps this year. The health and welfare of our children, elders, and loved ones with chronic conditions is too precious to risk and still too precarious for Camp Douglas to open the gates to campers and retreats at this time. Families who have already registered will be reimbursed shortly in full, minus a nominal online registration fee charged by the online registration system.
But it wouldn’t be a summer without camp. Our courageous and creative staff are hard at work, planning ways to make camp happen in new and imaginative ways this summer. If campers cannot come to camp, camp must go to the campers! With video-recording technology, a little determination, and a lot of heart, we are hard at work finding ways for all of us – the Camp Douglas family – to meet this summer.
Please watch this space, and our facebook page for updates as we determine how best to gather online as a community and bring camp to home.
Thank you for your patience as we move forward with new ways of doing camp this summer. We will keep you and your communities in our prayers, and we look forward to seeing you online this summer, and in person the next.
Peace be with you.
