What does Camp Douglas have to offer?
Camp Douglas is available for group rentals on weekends starting Friday late afternoon until Sunday afternoon from September until June. Week long rentals are available during Christmas and Spring Break. Camp programs typically make full use of July and August.
Camp Douglas offers comfortable sleeping accommodations and a beautiful waterfront setting; all you need is your own bedding and towels. We have a spacious kitchen stocked with all necessary pots, pans, baking sheets, dishes and cutlery. It has a gas stove, microwave and an industrial dishwasher that are all easy to use. All your group needs to bring is the food to eat and someone to prepare it! Or if you would prefer, inquire about a cook for your group to be supplied by Camp Douglas.
Although Camp Douglas is quiet and feels very secluded, it is located just a short drive from Canadian Tire and IGA (toward Sechelt) and a lovely walk (even shorter drive) from the Roberts Creek General Store. Anything your group needs can be purchased in Gibsons on the way to the camp or in Sechelt, 20 minutes past the camp.
Our camp offers rental availability for all kinds of group activities. In addition to church retreats, it is ideal for the use of community organizations, school activities and field trips, business retreats or conferences, as well as family getaways and reunions.
Buildings + Facilities
All buildings at the camp have heat and electricity. We offer a retreat centre with six rooms that can accommodate three people per room. These rooms have one set of bunk beds and one single bed each. Washroom and shower facilities are located on the same floor. This building is wheelchair accessible.
We also offer six cabins, each of which has five bunk beds plus one single bed, sleeping accomodations for eleven . These are located across the playing field from the main building. The main building is where the large washrooms and showers are located. The dining hall is found in the main building next to the kitchen. The dining hall is used for meals and large group meetings, games or other activities. We also have a cabin with washroom facilities that sleeps 3-5 people. This cabin has bunk beds. Finally there is a single wide trailer with two bedrooms, each with a double bed and washroom. The trailer has a kitchen, eating area and spacious living room ideal for small group meetings.
For recreation, we have a beautiful nature trail looping through the woods at the back of the property which more active groups use as part of traditional games such as Capture the Flag. Other groups use the easy walking trail for prayer walks and meditation. We have a large open field for your choice of activity, such as soccer, volleyball or badminton. Flume Creek meanders through the whole Camp Douglas property and opens out to the ocean at our beautiful waterfront. There are various bridges and lush foliage through out the property. Our scenic waterfront is a gateway to miles of shoreline exploration.
We have a natural setting, open air chapel that seats 120 people as well as two outdoor campfire pits with ample seating. Chopped firewood can be provided for your group’s convenience.
Camp Douglas is ideal for your church retreat – we offer a unique atmosphere that allows your congregation, youth group or other group to enjoy the natural surroundings of God’s beauty. Our site offers many locations for private meditation as well as both indoor and outdoor meeting places. The peace and tranquility will allow you and your group to experience the Lord’s creation in one of its purest forms. Our facility is set up to make your retreat as easy as possible. All you need to bring is your bedding and food, and maybe a flashlight if you want to explore the beach or woods at night.
